• Cory Environmental has won a £16m seven-year contract to provide refuse collection and other services to Southend Council.
The company will operate a commercial refuse collection service from January. The main contract begins in April and includes house-to-house refuse collection; street, beach and toilet cleaning; and gulley emptying.
Cory is investing £1.5m in new vehicles to service the contract including 14 refuse collection vehicles; 12 street cleaners; two gulley emptiers; and some light CVs.
Cory has also won a £250,000/four-year contract from the City of London to clean the new Spitalfields market at Temple Mills, Hackney.
