Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WO new design now in production by Fuller Roadranger gearboxes of

the Eaton Manufacturing Co. of America are available from the concern's U.K. subsidiary. E.N.V. Engineering Co. Ltd. The models are the RT-910, a 10-speed box, and the RT-915, a 15-speed version.

A feature of the design is the provision of twin layshafts with a mainshaft reasonably free to "float" in a direction at right angles to the plane of the two countershafts, which are located at opposite sides of it. Support for the mainshaft is given by spring stabilizers at each end. These are rod-like members, that at the front end running in a small bearing in the primary shaft whilst the rear stabilizer is mounted on the output shaft.

In the TR-910 the 10 ratios are obtained without gear splitting by using a five-speed combination and two-speed auxiliary gearing in the same casing. This is the same as in the previous Roadranger transmission and provides high and low ranges for each of the five ratios. A single gearchange lever is employed, the change from high and low auxiliary being air operated. With the RT-915, a three-ratio auxiliary unit is employed.

The drawing below shows the RT-910 10-speed model, the auxiliary box being drawn here on a different plane from that of the main gearbox, for clarity.

The manufacturers state that 200,000mile field tests with these gearboxes have revealed little wear and no ,signs of failure.
