Over 600 vehicles acquired by Group in recent months

THE Transport Development Group I Ltd. has bought Dallas (Kingston) Ltd. and its associated companies, Machinery Storage (Kingston) •Lid. and Merton Haulage Ltd. The issued share capital was acquired for £350,000 in cash. The companies, which operate a total fleet of 55 vehicles, are engaged mainly in heavy haulage, specializing in the carriage of machinery and in low-loader operation. The headquarters is at Kingston Road, New Malden, Surrey, where there is 30,000 sq. ft. of covered warehouse space.

Mr. W. T. Dallas will continue to control the affairs of the companies as managing director.

This is the fifth T.D.G. road transport acquisition to be announced in recent months, quite apart from the purchase of warehousing and lighterage concerns. In early November. 1963, it was announced that McKelvie and Co. Ltd. of Barrhead and its associated companies, operating some 400 vehicles and trailers, had been purchased and later that month it was revealed that a smaller Scottish concern, W. D. Tucker (Haulage Contractors) Ltd., had been bought by T.D.G.

In December came the announcement that Transport Development had bought control of Peter McCallum and Sons Ltd. and Powers Transport Ltd., operating about 60 vehicles between them, and last week it was announced that the group had purchased the 75-vehicle business of Collings and Stevenson (Contracts) Ltd. and its associated companies, of London.
