Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A manager of Beattockbased haulier North East Transport & Plant Hire (Broughty Ferry) is to be prosecuted on charges of falsification of tachograph charts and failing to take sufficient rest.

Niels Christoffersen is due to appear at Penrith Magistrates Court on 18 February; the case follows the prosecution of 24 drivers employed by the haulier for falsification of tachograph charts.

The Christoffersen family could also face legal action from a creditor of NE Transport, which went into liquidation in November lost year owing nearly £700,000 to unsecured creditors.

Truckline Ferries France intends to pursue Erik and Mary Christoffersen for an oustanding 4266 debt incurred by an associate company of NE Transport called NE Transport International.

Truckline accounts manager Wilf Bennett says the company is also considering action against Erik and Mary Christoffersen as directors of A.S.H.Transport & Trading of Goole, Humberside.

Mary Christoffersen's address as given to Companies House in April last year is the same as Niels Christoffersen's given in a sworn statement of affairs relating to NE Transport dated last November.

A.S.H. provided a trade reference for NE International sent to Truckline in June last year which states that NE Transport held an account with A.S.H. for two years.

But Companies House confirms that A.S.H. was only incorporated as a company on April 23 1993—so could only have known the company for two months at most in June that year.

A.S.H.'s transport manager, who now works at the company's new base at Selby, Yorks, signed the trade refer ence. But the transport manager, Ron Perry, says that the form was correct; as he was saying on it that he personally had known NE Transport International for two years.
