Sales Agreement Between Willys and Perkins A N oil-engined version of the Willys Jeep is being exhibited at the Amsterdam Motor Show, which opened yesterday. The significance of this exhibit is that the engine is a Perkins Four 192 unit, which has been adopted as a production option for three Jeep export models produced by Willys Motors, Inc., Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. The Perkins engine is to be made available in CJ-5 and CJ-6 Jeep Universal models, also the 1-ton pick-up truck, a range covering gross weights of 1 ton 14 cwt. to 2 tons 14 cwt. The Four 192 is a 3.15-litre four-cylindered indirect-injection engine with a gross rating of 62 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m. and a peak torque output of 143 lb.-ft. at 1,350 r.p.m. A distributor-type fuel-injection pump, with hydraulic governor, is employed on the Perkins engine. The unit it will replace is a Willys Hurricane 2.2-litre petrol engine with an output of 72 b.h.p. at 4,040 r.p.m.

The oil-engined Jeep is being exhibited in Amsterdam on the stand of Kemper en van Twist, who are Willys and Perkins distributors in the Netherlands. Outside the U.S.A. these models will be offered by the Willys-Overland Export Corporation and Willys Overseas, S.A.
