EMPLOYERS .who lay down such tight schedules that their drivers are forced to speed may find themselves in the dock with the driver when he is prosecuted for speeding, said Mr. Leonard Hackett, chairman of Wokingharn. Berks, magistrates, last week.
It was apparent from driving on roads in the division that drivers were seldom observing the speed limits, said Mr. Hackett, and while continuing to deal with each case on its merits, " my colleagues and I have decided to increase the penalties generally."
Should an employer give directions under which any journey was to he completed within a specified time and it
was not practicable to be completed without the commission of an offence, he added, it might be that the employer had procured or incited an offence.
