Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Irish hauliers could soon face a ban on daytime deliveries in the Dublin area.

Local opposition to a proposed national freight park in the western suburbs of Dublin has led to calls for a ban on HGVs using any roads but motorways or national routes in the area between 20:00-06:00hrs, with a ban on deliveries to shops in the city outside of these hours.

Residents groups from West Dublin have formed an umbrella organisation to fight the proposed freight park and put their case for a ban to a city traffic inquiry.

The park would be near the junction of several motorways and national routes and would serve as a railhead for containers landed at the port.

Unopened containers would be shipped by rail to the park where loads would be broken down for final delivery.

Protesters say the freight park would force 1,200 truck movements a day onto local roads that are already congested, with HGVs travelling through residential areas.

Planning permission for the freight park hinges on a vote of the county council early next year.
