Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

does not believe early introduction of Eura-5 is in the interests of either market or environment It would simply lock UK operators into using millions of tonnes of AdBlue over the years great for the AdBlue makers, but does the market need to be captive to an additive? We don't think so.

Remember. Euro-5 targets NOx as the only reduction required. which AdBlue achieves by increasing the dosage used, but at what cost to operators and the environment long term? Nobody has properly evaluated the impact of AdBlue production and distribution, yet at the moment it is the only system available at Euro-5 levels.

EGA manufacturers have been working diligently to the published European timetable for introduction, and will have engines ready in 2008a year ahead of schedule. So real engine developments, that genuinely work in operators' best interests. could be seriously reduced if the market and its operators are pushed down the AdBlue route by an incentive, however well intentioned such incentivisation may be AdBlue is a muddled way forward: its rather like thinking an electric vehicle produces no emissions, by 'forgetting' the thousands of tonnes of coal burned daily at the power station which produces the power to charge the batteries!

What is required is the delivery of Euro-5 and beyond by moving engine technology forward, not backwards. After-treatment is a quick fix, not a solution. The market and the environment deserve better.
