Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE DISPUTE BETWEEN the Transport and General Workers Union (T& G) and supermarket chain Iceland has been resolved after members at Iceland's Deeside distribution depot accepted an enhanced redundancy deal.

"There was an overwhelming majority of nearly three to one to accept the offer negotiated last week,'' a T&G spokesperson says. "We're now working with the cornpany and our members to manage the closure of the depot in an orderly way."

The T&Ci adds that some of the drivers and ware

house staff would take redundancy; others would be employed at Iceland's Warrington site.

The Deeside depot will close at the end of September, affecting 350 people, including 120 drivers.

The union says problems arose in February when Iceland asked drivers to accept a basic wage of £9.75/hr and a one-off payment of €4,000. The deal would also have meant drivers losing around £100 a week in pay and holiday and sick pay entitlements (CM 13 July 06).
