Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LOGISTICS GIANT DHL is poised to take over the delivery of products to NHS hospitals, prompting a strike threat among hundreds of NHS staff.

NHS Logistics employs more than 1.300 people and operates more than 200 vehicles which are leased from TNT.

Public services union Unison reports that staff are angered by the prospect of privatisation; he predicts a vote in favour of strike action over the issue.

Karen Jennings, the head of health at Unison, suggests: "DHL will be rubbing its hands together at the thought of getting hold of such a successful business operation with a lucrative turnover of about £777m a year.

"Meanwhile, staff who have worked hard to build up a first-class service with a world-class reputation now face job cuts."

Minister of State for Health Andy Burnham explains that the government is considering privatising the service to provide better value for money so more can be invested in patient care services.

One of NHS Logistics' six depots, in Bridgwater. Somerset, is already outsourced to DHL.
