• The Frankfurt show will be used to launch the Lane Guard System (LOS), an option which sounds a warning if the driver strays into another lane without activating the indicator first. It is designed for motorway use, so works only above 60km/h (about 40mph) arid can be switched off if the driver prefers. LOS uses a video camera and computer to assess the truck's position on the read, and activates the warning if the truck moves too close to the white line at the side of the lane. The alert noise is the sound of nails rattling, because MAN's research has shown that this is highly annoying, and hence most effective.
