Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW type of multi-wheeled trailer designed for use by civil-engineering contractors, and in -railway yards and docks has been produced by the Low Loading Trailer Co., Ltd., Dean Street, Bedford. The small wheels impose a speed limit of 15 m.p.h. when the trailer is laden, but the makers claim that time is saved by the ease of loading and unloading, also that in any case the work for which the vehicle is intended is local transport.

Normally the trailer is loaded and unloaded by the use of detachable endramps, but the two four-wheeled bogies at the rear are quickly detachable and, with the jacks provided, the platform can be lowered to bring the rear to the ground.

Each bogie is supported on a pair of pivoted beams and is independently suspended to check any tendency for the platform to roll with a heavy load. The front axle has anti-rolling suspension and is secured to the trailer frame by a forecarriage and turntable.

The near-side and off-side pairs of front wheels are each mounted with a lateral pivot. The platform has an overall length of 16 ft. 9 in, and an effective load length of 13 ft. 7 in. The width in standard form is 7 ft. 5 in., but steel side extensions are provided to form a platform 8 ft, 1 in. wide. Loads of up to 10 tons can be carried and the normal equipment includes a 2-ton winch.

Price of the trailer, including spare wheel and tyre, jacks, loading ramps and platform extensions, is £725 ex works. Loads for which the unit is suitable are concrete mixers, mechanical shovels, cable drums, pipes and concrete beams.
