I F any further substantial increases :to operating costs were not accompanied by at least a substantial reduction in fuel tax, the company would he forced to consider reducing services in rural areas, Mr. J. S. Wills, chairman of the Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd., said at the annual meeting, in London. on Tuesday.
Mr. Wills said that 33.71 per cent. oi the company's routes and 23.42 per cent of their mileage was operated beloo. cost in rural areas.
The past year had created ,records. For the first time total revenue exceeded 12.4m., the yield from stage services being £158,203 more than in the previous year. Revenue from excursions and tours and contracts was 135,096 more, reaching a record figure of 1115,803. Extended tours again surpassed the record for the previous year. More than 95.5m. passengers were carried and nearly 25m. miles were run.
A plastics department had been introduced at the Cardiff works, and this was producing such items as bus wings and time-table cases.
