MR. R. W. NIELD. district organizer of the Road Haulage Association, has received a presentation from the Hereford sub urea in recognition of his services during the difficult period of nationalization.
MR. J. B. Scorr, A.I.E.E., general sales manager of the plant division of Crompton Parkinson, Ltd., has been appointed an executive director. On October 1 he will also become assistant sales director (home), a new appointment.
SIR GRAHAM CUNNINGHAM, chairman and managing director of the Triplex Safety Glass Co., Ltd., recently toured the U.S.A. as head of a team of British industrialists to study the conservation of scarce raw materials. On his return he stated that British and U.S, industrialists had pooled ideas on saving scarce materials.
MR. . ALEXANDER SCOTT, formerly group manager of the Scottish parcel group of the Road Haulage Executive, has been promoted divisional traffic officer to the Scottish Division. He entered long-distance haulage in 1928. When he joined the Executive in 1949 he was Glasgow manager of the Holdsworth and Hanson group.
MR. J. M. Blactt is to continue as chairman of the Passenger Vehicle
Operators' Association. His nomination has been approved by the national council. Nominations for vice-chairmen are MR. F. J. SPEIGHT, MR. W. SF,DDON, MR, G. MILLER and MR. L. A. TURNER, with MR. S. D. ODDY honorary treasurer. Mr. Turner has also been nominated as chairman of the National Taxi-Car Association, with MR. 0. F. K. MonAN as vice-chairman.

GEN. SIR LESLIE WILLIAMS, K.B.E., C.B., M.C., director of the export division of Rootes, Ltd., was last week elected Master of the Worshipful Company of Carmen, MR. E. J. SHAW has been re-elected chairman of the Sheffield group of the Institute of Transport. MR. W. R. CARTER, MR. N. RYLANCE and MR. H. DixoN were elected vice-chairmen. MR. R. C. MooRE remains as immediate past chairman. Ma. E. DEAKIN was elected secretary and treasurer and MR. C. DARWENIf honorary auditor.
