The complete returns now available for 1935 show that there was a slight revival, last year, in the overseas demand for American commercial vehicles. The shipments from the United States totalled 99,080 vans, lorries, buses and chassis of an estimated value of £10,016,487, compared with 92.273 and £8,841,461 respec tively in 1934. .

Of the total, 9,982 units were for loads up to 20 cwt.; 72,103, 20-30-cwt. ; 14.057,11-2i. tons; 2,403, over 2i tons ; 266 bus chassis and 269 second-hand vehicles. The principal markets for American commercial vehicles are Japan, Brazil, India, the Argentine, Belgium and Australia.

As a result of a prosecution at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, last Friday, said to be the first of its kind, Mr. James W. Soutar, haulage contractor, Garnshiel, Abbotswell Road, Aberdeen, was fined £15. He pleaded guilty to a charge, under Section 34 (1) of the Road and Rail Traffic Act, of lending or allowing to be used by the Woodside Haulage Co., Kirkcaldy, a licence disc granted to him by the Northern Scotland Licensing Authority.

£60,000 Fire Station for Bolton.
