Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Safeway Stores has ordered 126 reefer trailers from Gray & Adams fitted with independently sprung compression members at the tail.

The device comprises double rubber buffers on sliding stainless steel brackets. It is attached to the rear of the chassis and absorbs the impacts that can occur when reversing on to loading docks.

Safeway's new loading arrangement has cut out the need for tail-lifts and, according to fleet engineer Roy Atree, the new bumper system promises huge savings in future maintenance and repairs.

The 12.9m fleet additions are mainly dual-temperature reefers: 62 of them have BOC's Polarstream liquid nitrogen system; the rest are fitted with Carrier fridge units H Safeway's new Trailer 2000 design, featuring a unusual refrigeration system and advanced aerodynamics, will be exhibited at next February's SMMT CV and Bodywork show at the NEC, Birmingham.
