Charles Holdsworth, a vice-chairman of the Road Haulage Association, in a Leeds speech on October 24, when he urged • that the Government should postpone implementation of the Transport Act

As chairman of the R.H.A. West Riding Area, Ald. Holdsworth was speaking at a dinner held by the Leeds Suit-area.

It is our duty as law-abiding British citizens to obey the law," he said. "On various occasions there have been suggestions that we should do what is very common at the present time—go on strike; but do not let us lower our selves to such a level as to say we will not do our 'job.

"In all the speeches when the Transport Bill was going through the House of Commons. it wai never said that the road haulage industry was inefficient. In fact, we have had praise all along the line. Let us keep that good name, and make it plain that, whatever happens, this industry will carry the country in all its difficulties."
