THAT the •Deputy Licensing Authority had not referred to two test-case decisions of the ' Appeal Tribunal, was stated by the chairman of the Tribunal, Mr. Gleeson E. Robinson, in reversing a decision at York. . The case was one in which a 1914-18 ex-Serviceman, Mr. W. H. Swaine, A.M.I.Mech.E., of the Rover Co., Ltd. M. Julien was to have read a paper, but cannot come to this country then. At Leeds, on November 5, Messrs. Markland and Tattersall will read their paper on oil engines.

SCOTLAND'S NO. 1 STUDENTS

PRIZES have been awarded by the Scottish Road Passenger. Transport Association to Mr.. J. B. Macdonald, of S.P.D., and Mr. J. B. McGuigan, of Glasgow Transport Department, for their successful performances in Royal Society of Arts examinations in road transport subjects.

Mr. Macdonald obtained the highest aggregate marks among students in Scotland taking the first-year course, and Mr. McGuigan achieved a similar, distinction in the second-year course.

T.R.T.A. TIES UP LOOSE ENDS

FIRST conference of area organizers of the Traders' Road Transport Association was held recently in London. Col. A. Jerrett, M.Inst.T.. president and chairman of the Association, presided. The meeting, which lasted nearly four hours, was planned to allow organizers to discuss subjects of mutual interest.
