Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Thompsons came up with an innovative solution to streamline the task of repairing potholes in roads. It comes in two parts: a steel drop-side tipper body and a 3.5-tonne GVW trailer, designed to be towed by the tipper.

The judges considered the pairing both highly productive and ergonomic.

The trailer can carry up 2.4 tonnes of hot asphalt and has its own gas-powered burners to keep the asphalt up to temperature. The tipping body is sub divided into compartments for each type of material and has an external mounting point for the Wacker plate, removing the need to heave it into the body.

Also on the shortlist was a moving-floor asphalt trailer from S2 Industries. S2 has pioneered the use of moving-floor trailers as a more productive and safer alternative to 8x4 tippers on road-surfacing work.

The Flip & Walk initiative on a bulk scrap metal recycling trailer made by KBF Trailers (see p12) was also shortlisted.
