International Tool Co showed a new German digital star that is useful for carrying out pressure and it testing on diesel engines with common-rail fuelaction systems. The unit has a testing range of up to 00 bar and works using an assortment of plug-in leptons including models for Mercedes and French and Italian vehicles, and a universal connector. It costs £264.38 and an electronic version is available.

There's also an attachment that fits on the kingpin and enables the system to be used to check trailer wheel-alignment fitted with single or twin tyres too. Prices run from £3,400 for single steers to £4,500 for the larger system with the extra mirror heads for twin-steer axles.

• Locating shorts or open circuits on trailers these days can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack—but not anymore according to ITC, which has imported a neat little test unit from the US. Power Probe costs £175 and is said to make locating lighting faults much easier. It can also be used to find battery drain points.

• Locating troublesome fluid and refrigerant leaks needn't be expensive says Sevenoaks-based Primalec, which sells the Ole-Leak diagnostic system. This comprises a tracer fluid, UV lamp kit and, for some systems, an injector unit. Simply inject a special fluid into the engine, cooling or hydraulic system, operate the equipment and then scan all suspect areas using the ultra-violet lamp provided.

• Weber-Hydraulik has reacted to a market requirement for a new mobile frame similar to the old Epco design for removing heavy assemblies like engines,

gearboxes and axles. The WHT,I1000 onetonne trolley-type transmission jack has much wider wheels than the old model for enhanced stability. The Braintree UK branch also showed off a much shallower (80mm-deep) two-tonne trolley jack for the tyre industry with a novel air-assistance unit that clips to any Weber bottle jack (pictured) and then pumps it up remotely. The mechanic positions it under a vehicle and the jack does the rest.

• Garages shouldn't have to call on domestic refrigeration engineers to sort out vehicle air conditioning systems, but they do. Snap-on Sun Tech's latest Sun Koolman mobile recycling centre will replace gases without affecting the state of the lubricating oil. It pulses the gases through and at the same time clears out all the orifices. Snap-on also displayed a new portable refrigerant identification unit, the SRI-1 unit, which is said to reveal the presence of any contaminants and identify them in percentage figures,Also on display was Sun's latest SVL 4000 four-post lift.

• Haweka is the UK/Ireland agent for the Pro-Cut brake-caliper mounted disc lathe, which attaches to the vehicle hub to eliminate both run-out and taper. The system can be adapted for use with larger commercial vehicles too. Existing lathes at Chrysler agencies and all of Ford's 5,500 US and Canadian dealerships are being replaced by the Pro-Cut hub-mount system. Haweka has also added Ahcon tyre inflation safety cages to its UK product range.

• Although it's well-known in the States, MiltonKeynes-based WO-40 thinks its time to let UK garages and mechanics know about its heavy-duty hand cleanser Lava.
