Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Brian Weatherley Daf has quietly unveiled its "lite" Sx2 FTP tractor for bulker and tanker operators looking for maximum payloads at 41 and 44 tonnes. The Eindhoven-built Dusher-axle FTP tractor was Driginally developed to suit Dutch national weight limits and features an air suspended Hendrickson drop-beam axle but with 17.5in wheels and tyres—rival models from ERF, Volvo and Scania run on 19.5in wheels.

Commercial Motor spotted one of the first 95XF.430 FTPs at the recent open day held by Channel Commercials, Oaf's main distributor for Kent and East Sussex based in Ashford.

The three-axle FTP tractor is due to be delivered to local operator Charles Hewitt of Canterbury. Daf has designed the FTP to allow operators to carry maximum fuel loads—it can be fitted with twin Mk and 4451it tanks or have one tank fitted, leaving nom for chassis mounted pumping equipment. The line-built model is based on a 4.05m wheelbase with the extra axle adding around 700kg to an equivalent 4x2's kerbweight. It comes with a full factory warranty.

Although the FTP is capable of running at 44 tonnes, Oaf says that in some operations loading latitude could be tight due to the smaller 17.5in wheeled axle's 4.4tonne capacity, making it more suitable for 41-tonnes GCW. However, CM understands that a 19.5in version of the FTP is unlikely to be offered. Operators can also order an FTP version of the B5CF with up to 430hp.

• Though Oaf at Mame is refusing to confirm it Commercial Motorbefieves that a 4801p version of the 85OF will eventually be offered in the UK. With the recent arrival of the new 850F the most powerful rating of the XF diesel in the 85 Series has been 430hp.

However, with the CF cab now raised to a slightly higher position and airflow over the engine Improved, a higher rating Is on the cards.
