Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

1-1 A BOOKLET has been produced by

Austin Crompton Parkinson Electric Vehicles Ltd., Morrison Works, South Wigston, Leicester, on its recently introduced electronic Powermiser controller for use on battery-electric vehicles and trucks.

Claims made for the new controller arc that it gives improved economy in the use of battery power, which allows lower-capacity batteries to be used, smoother acceleration and the elimination of normal contactor maintenance. Built-in automatic protection against overloading is another feature of the controller, and there is no time limitation on low-speed running.

Whilst the Powermiser is more expensive in first cost than, orthodox controllers, there are considerable savings in battery and charger initial costs. These are said to amount to ro in a typical example given. In this same example, annual savings of almost £7 for battery charging are also claimed.
