The main guide to transporting food in the UK is the General Food Hygiene Regulations 1995, 2005 and 2006. These state: ● Containers and vehicles used must be designed for them to be adequately cleaned and disinfected; ● Containers for the bulk transport of food in liquid, granular or powder form must be reserved for food only and marked as such; ● Containers used for different foods or for both food and non-food products must be effectively separated to protect against the risk on contamination; ● Containers used to carry different foodstuffs must be effectively cleaned between loads.
