Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Up to 50 posts are to go at BRS as the truck and trailer rental arm of NFC continues its integration with sister company Exel Logistics.

The lost positions will be shaved from BRS by closing nine of its 19 administration cen. tres.

NEC human resources director Victor Ross says the company is working on redeployment of all staff. But he adds: "Redundancies at the end are likely to number less than 50."

NFC hopes to save millions of pounds each year in administration and marketing costs after last September's merger of BRS and Exel.

Around 86 warehouse workers and drivers at Exel Logistics' dedicated Homebase depot at Northampton are to be balloted this week on the company's offer of a new productivity package that includes a 1.85% pay increase.

A 2.5 hour reduction in the working week without financial loss to 42.5 hours a week is also being offered to the staff who are all salaried: the few Class I drivers at the depot earn a basic £13,118 currently. An increase in subsistence payments has also been offered from £18.15 to £19.90 per occasion.
