Big Advantages Claimed for the Ilypressure Jenny Cleaning Unit

PARTICULARLY attractive 'to municipal-transport authorities is a portable, self-contained steam-vapour cleaning unit now being handled in this country by the British Weaver Manufacturing and Engineering Co., Ltd., 114, City Road, London, E.C.I.

Known as the Hypressure Jenny, and of American origin, this plant has an unusually high degree of utility for machinery and vehicle cleansing (including degreasing), paint-stripping, floor and wall cleaning, and—in yet another field—decontamination for A.R.P. purposes. We understand that several public authorities are interested in this item of equipment Briefly, the cleaner comprises a pressure spray, a heater and a solution tank. Suitable solution (e.g., caustic, acid or special cleanser) is put into the solution tank, and passes to -heating coils in which it is vaporized and issues from the nozzle at 'pressures up to 175 lb. It is important to note that the spray can be controlled by the operator, at a point near the nozzle, no matter how long the hose may be. The reason is that the water pressure automatically controls the pressure at which the oil burner works, thus there is no piling-up.

The cleaner heats up remarkably quickly from cold. In I* minutes it is 'easy to raise a pressure of 125 lb. High vapour-pressures can safely be carried and one gallon per minute of solution does its work remarkably effectively.

We recently witnessed a demonstration of the equipment and formed the opinion that for simplicity, ease in operation and multiplicity of purpose, it ranks high. Certainly; no special skill is needed to operate it, and the safety factor is high. Priced at £245 for A.C. and £265 for D.C. (these prices including a special ignition transformer), it would surely pay for itself quickly and then make possible maintenance savings over many years of service.
