Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Sally Nash III Bridge bashing took centre stage again last week following an accident in Derbyshire in which four people died and 10 were injured.

The crash, on the A616 Sheffield road in Creswell, happened when truck driver Toni Askew, of Pontefract-based AJS Transport, hit a railway bridge then jack-knifed across the road. A minibus belonging to Derbyshire County Council ran into the truck, Askew escaped serious injury.

Local people and drivers claim that the council has failed to signpost the bridge properly. They believe the warning signs, which say the bridge is only 13ft 9in high, are not visible enough. One resident reports five bridge-bashing incidents there in the past six months.

II Former Isle of Wight truck driver Allyson Jones is calling for radical action to prevent bridge-bashing accidents. She says a comprehensive list should be compiled, naming bridges that are badly signposted or "where psychic powers are needed".
