AT a sitting of the Northern Scotland Licensing Authority, at Aberdeen, it was stated that a letter had been received from a solicitor containing certain allegations, but that he had failed to appear to substantiate them.

J. 13ibby and Sons, Ltd., Liverpool, it was stated, alleged that Messrs. Cameron and Gibbon, carriers, Manymusk, had refused, without explanation, to deliver merchandise to Kerrinay and Alford in April of this year. On May 29, an inquiry into the complaint was held by the Authority. On that occasion; Mr.John Ducat •stated. the

case for the Bibby concern • Messrs. Cameron and Gibbon stated that Bibby's traffic had dropped to an uneconomic quantity. Mr. H. Riches, the Authority, said he thought that the dispute had been amicably settled. On June 13, however, he received a letter from Mr. Docat, declaring that the decision was unfair, 'being based on inaccurate evidence, and asking that the complaint be reconsidered in the light of further evidence. The letter also stated that the matter would be taken up in the proper quarter " if justice and fairness did not prevail."

He (Mr. Riches) had fixed a further inquiry for July 22, but on July 21 he receised a letter from Mr. .Duea.t, stating that--his client was taking no further proceedings in the matter.

Mr. D. W--C. Dona,ld, for Messrs. Cameron and Gibbon, said he had -re

ceived a similar message from Mr. Ducat, but it was too late for him -to

warn his clients not to attend. He submitted a letter from Mr. Ducat, on behalf of the Bibby concern, sent to a client of the latter in Aberdeenshire, in which it was stated that Messrs. Cameron and Gibbon's rates for carrying feeding cake were uneconomic.

There was added to it a. sentence, said to be in Mr. Ducat's handwriting, in which he declared: "If you cannot get your cake with Messrs. Cameron and Gilabon, I would punishthem with .your other goods:"

• -Mr. Riches said that Mr.Ducat had not the courage .to attend ,porsonalty and prove the-allegations in his letters. -The inquiry was adjourned.
