Representatives of Glamorgan. Monmouth and Gloucester County Councils recently waited on the Welsh Parliamentary Party to discuss the future of the Severn Bridge scheme. Later, a joint deputation appeared before the Minister of Transport, putting forward -the suggestion that the Government should assume responsibility for the construction of the bridge and the auxiliary roads, as part of the scheine for taking over the trunk roads, with the help of financial contributions from all the parties concerned.

The Minister said, in reply, that it might be assumed that the Government would not recede from its previous offer of financial support, but it did not propose to construct the bridge in connection with the taking over of the existing trunk routes. Ile put forward the suggestion that all the local authorities desirous of supporting the scheme for theā€¢ construction of the bridge should form a joint committee to submit a new Bill to Parliament.

Staffordshire Road Improvements.

The widening and reconstruction of one of the busiest parts of the Stafford Wolverhampton road is to be under taken by Stafford County Council, which has received a grant from the Road Fund towards the cost of the scheme, estimated at close upon *',60,000. For a distance of 2,300 yds., from Cra.teford cross-roads to Rodbaston Gate, it will be 100 ft. wide.

Heavy commercial traffic between the north and the industrial areas of the Midlands uses this road, and, on the section which is to he widened, considerable congestion occurs.

Replacing After Three Years.

Bradford Electricity Committee has decided.that, as a general principle, all the department's vehicles should be replaced after three years' service.
