Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A plasma cutting system — Air Cut — announced by Interlas Welding Products, Hitchin, is the latest of a new generation of machines designed and manufactured by Miller, for which Interlas is a UK main distributor. It uses compressed air as both the plasma and secondary gas.

The Air Cut is suitable for cutting both ferrous and non ferrous metals from 0.30 to 9.5mm thick. Preheating is not required and the lightweight torch makes quick work of cutting through galvanised and painted metals, anodised alloys, as well as mild and stainless steels. An example of the Air Cut's cutting speed is that it can cut 2.4mm thick mild steel at 4.4mimin.
