Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Tridex was founded in 1972 when the Automotive Wholesalers Association of California approached the parent company, Triad System Corporation, for assistance in bringing in computerisation. Triad responded by creating a system — Triax — which now has over 8,000 users worldwide. In the USA it is claimed, seven out of every 10 computerised aftermarket distributors use Tridex.

Since its introduction in the UK in 1981 Tridex has opened six offices which currently service over 300 installations. It is designed specifically for the parts aftennarket. It reduces clerical input; maximises stock turnover; and saves money by producing sales statistics. Before undertaking any installation, Tridex representatives evaluate the intended application. Once the system is ready to go "live" (which can be in as little as 11/2 months) all user personnel are trained both at Tridex education centres and on site. The system is safeguarded by service engineers and software experts operating out of six service centres.

Tridex says it is the only computerised parts system able to offer users a proven telecommunications capability as part of the standard software. It allows users to place orders with their suppliers over the telephone network, computer to computer.
