NEW REGISTRATION of goods vehicles fell to 15,176 during December in the United Kingdom in 1974 (December 1973: 17,093); and public transport vehicles reduced to 505 from 621.

Provisional figures issued by the DoE —for thefirst time from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Directorate at Swansea, which has taken over responsibility from the Motor Taxation Offices — show the total UK goods vehicle registrations at 238,687 (previously 294,847) and public transport vehicles at 8,058 (10,121). The number of vehicles exempt from tax is 27,974.
