E,RATOR who got ;erheads" with a :xaminer and dis; report following a ince investigation, six months to put right by the I deputy Licensing ty, Mr E. D. , at Darlington on

;ciplinary inquiry is K. Wilson (Steel on) Ltd. Stokesley, n adjourned from 10 for the vehicle • to attend after Mr had disputed the port. The examiner, Mr G. McDermott, said that he visited the company's base at Kane Bridge where Mr Wilson carried out maintenance for the three vehicles licensed in April, 1974. No records were being kept and the site was an old brickworks, with no hardstanding and everything outside wet and muddy.

The buildings were old, said Mr McDermott, and the floor uneven; only one vehicle was in operation, the other two being under repair but there were indications they were not being properly looked after. A driver who was said to also be the mechanic admitted he was only "a good handyman".

Mr Wilson was advised to contract maintenance out and later a letter was received saying this had been arranged. When the garage was visited there was only a small workshop suitable for ears. The operator then said he would build a ramp and pits himself, but nothing had since been heard from him.

The deputy LA was told the company took over the premises for the steel fabrication business and planning permission had been granted for alterations which had been held up by bad weather.

The examiner agreed that if all the plans were carried out and, meanwhile, there was a proper maintenance contract with another garage, everything would be satisfactory.

After hearing that one of the three vehicles was used to provide spare parts for the others, the deputy LA deleted it from the licence. He added that he would require a signed contract with a reliable garage.
