Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Bryan Jarvis • Two new Don-Bur highvolume double-deck semitrailers have enabled Ambassador Packaging of Winsford to replace three drawbar outfits, cutting its operational costs by almost 40%.

The 36-tonne step-frame trailers, hauled by Scania twin-steer tractive units, are being used to deliver packaging products nation wide. The 13.7m semis are 4.76m high with two lifting decks, a removable forward neck section with two pre-set heights and a hydraulically powered raising floor over the main deck.

The longer lifting deck section is rated at 10 tonnes. It has an integral roller floor system to help with pallet loading and can be positioned at any height up to 2.5m from the bottom floor using a hydraulic ram and four lifting cables.

Each lifting module has multi-position mechanical locking and fail-safe devices.

Mentor triaxle Flexair 9000/BMX running gear and 265.70R 19.5in tyres help keep down the floor height.

The moving decks give Ambassador tremendous loading flexibility to carry a range of packaging materials within its 3.88m maximum side aperture. When only one deck is needed the extra platform is lowered to wheelarch height.

1=1 Argos Distribution is using 14 Don-Bur 13m double-deck semi-trailers to cut daily store deliveries from three to two. The 4.47m trailers have a fixed deck giving a 1.85m ceiling on both floors with room for 52 Argos roll cages— the previous single-deckers could only take 36 cages.
