Tyne Tunnel Charges : The new road tunnel being constructed under the Tyne between Jarrow and Howdon will be completed during 1966. Charges have been fixed at 2s. 6d. for light goods vehicles and cars, and 4s. for other goods and passenger vehicles. It is estimated that by 1970 about 17,000 vehicles will use the tunnel daily, bringing in £750,000 annually. The tolls are subject to Ministry confirmation.

More Registrations : The number of goods vehicles registered in the period January to November, 1965, was 230,910, compared with 222,997 in the same period last year. Registrations for p.s.v. amounted to 6,437 (6,045).
