• MAN has launched a lightweight urban artic based on the M90 middleweight.
The 14.272 is effectively a downplated version of the 17.272 distribution tractor with a 14-tonne GVW and a 23-tonne GCW. The fifth-wheel height is just 1,020mm thanks to 70-section tyres.
Standard equipment includes a nine-speed synchro gearbox, 300-litre fuel tank, drive-axle air suspension, roof hatch, seat belts, air-suspended driver's seat, heated mirrors, underbumper air dam and electrically operated passenger window.
The first operator to take the new model is Greenalls, which will use it on brewery distribution work L MAN is building a new truck dealership in Newcastle. The Team Valley site will replace the temporary Chester-le-Street dealership which opened in 1993. fitted to recent Transits. Payload of the 12-tonne GVW 150 van should be around 1,200kg.
The short-wheelbase model is expected to expand demand for the County Transit— since its launch in 1982 the company has been selling about to 200 a year, mainly to utility companies.
