Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I HAVE TO AGREE wholeheartedly with Derek Jones' sentiment that we are not doing enough to protect English trade against other Europeans (CM, 9 September).

However it seems a bit ironic that this should be coming from a man who has spent his whole life successfully selling Scanias to the detriment of UK truck manufacturers.

We English (the Scots and Welsh are more successful at looking after their national interests) tend to be apathetic and will only complain when it's too late to do anything about it.
