A QUICK-THINKING truck driver has saved a young couple from a lire at their flat in West Sussex.
They became trapped when a blaze at the KFC fast-food outlet in Horsham spread upwards. The fire escape was engulfed in flames so the pair had to jump from a front window.
The driver, who had parked opposite to buy food from the KFC, moved his truck onto the pavement below.The couple made their escape by jumping down onto the roof of his vehicle just before the fire brigade arrived.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesman says: "It was a great idea. The quick thinking of the driver could have averted a tragedy."
The driver has asked for his name not to be revealed.
