• The licence held by Greenwich-based International Haulage has been revoked by the South Eastern & Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner Brigadier Michael Turner because the company does not have a professionally competent transport manager.
DOT vehicle examiner Geoffrey Fakhadder told an Eastbourne public inquiry that when he visited the company's premises in March he had imposed immediate prohibition notices on two vehicles. Other vehicles were given delayed prohibitions.
Company secretary Leslie Palliser claimed the vehicles were owned and operated by others, and that one of them had been taken off the road for repair.
In reply to the Commissioner, Palliser said the company was operating vehicles belonging to Premier Workshops. The vehicles had previously been owned by JJ Higgins Vehicle Hire. He conceded that the company did not currently employ a professionally competent transport manager.
Revoking the licence, Brigadier Turner said that it had the option of recruiting a suitable person and submitting an application for a fresh licence.
