RATCLIFF Foldaway lift, vith a capacity of 500kg lOcwt), has been fitted to a 4ercedes-Benz wheelchair mbulance.

Based on the Mercedes 0309 oach chassis with bodywork y John Nicholls and Sons, of Volverhampton, the vehicle is ■ eing operated by the St ulthony's Cheshire Home in Volverharn pton.

Although, in its present arm, the ambulance can ccommodate five forward acing passengers in single eats along each side as well as ive wheelchairs, some seats an be removed to increase the vheelchair carrying capacity. The Ratcliff Foldaway tail ft, intended to assist entry .nd exit, has two leaves so that t can be folded up and stowed lehind the vehicle's double ear doors.

For safety, a detachable side ail is provided.
