ith nights drawing in, Foden and I pull our curtains early. As we sit by the glow of the fake coal fire, thoughts turn to the coming festivities. If, like me, you are scratching your head wondering what gifts to buy this year, then allow me to suggest the American Classic series from Corgi. It includes some absolute corkers among its latest models which include San Francisco street cars, Greyhound buses and fire service vehicles.
Favourites include an open cab Mack B aerial ladder truck in the colours of Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, and a gleaming Lionel City Mack B dropside, authentically loaded with wooden crates. Both retail at under £30.
Never one to drop hints, but it would make the Hawk a very happy old bird to discover one of these beauties in his Christmas stocking.
