He has been con nected with the Association for many years, and his popularity in the upper wards of Lanarkshire has proved of valuable assistance in the work of co-ordination in that area. He is managing director of A. Ramage and Sons, Ltd., the haulage-contracting concern of Douglas Water, which is engaged mainly in the transport of milk, feeding stuffs and farm produce. His ability as sub-district manager has also been reflected in his work on the Southern Road and Rail Regional Committee, of which he is a member.

MR. yam H. COWAN, cleansing superintendent at Dagenham, has been appointed borough cleansing superintendent and transport officer at Gateshead, in succession to Mr. R. H. Storer, who retires at the end of this year. Mr. Cowan has also held appointments lat Sunderland and Scarborough.

MR. W. ELKINGTON, employment manager for Leyland Motors, Ltd., for nearly 24 years, who has resigned through ill-health, has been connected with the motor industry for over 50 years. During the 1914-18 war he was deputy chief investigation officer of labour for the Ministry of Munitions and he was awarded the M.B.E. MR. M. R. PEASE is his successor.
