Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Glass's Guide chief commercial vehicle editor George Alexander tells Kevin Swallow that used sales are healthy — but not across the boa

The fiercest battleground for used dealers is the specialist chassis sector. Quality-built bodies often with a crane-are in demand. explains George Alexander of Glass's Guide.

"All sound multi-axle rigids attract strong money as there isn't enough supply to meet retail demand for the best stock,"Alexander reports. He points out. however, that it's a small sector in which even a couple of dozen additional heavy tippers coming on to market would affect values.

With major construction projects in the pipeline. demand for 6x4 and 8x4 tippers should remain provided that all such returns are sensibly managed.

In the lightweight sector, though,7.5-tonne truck sales appear patchy."Daf, Mercedes-Benz and Iveco-badged chassis attract a loyal following, and achieve sound results,"Alexander ex plains."He curtainsiders to 18 tonnes from premium marqu achieve guide trade, provided they are tidy. Ifs unclear how resilient this sector would be if the 1 volumes returning from contract were to grow significantly."

Inconsistency dogs the heavy truck sector, toc -The underlying message is that there is still higl demand for powerful late-year Euro-3 Volvo Fl M-B Actros and Daf XF units. but supply of goo stock is limited." says Alexander.

All Scania products sell with little difficulty bt supply is its Achilles' heel, he adds. 'More comrr the real job is remarketing ex-fleet distribution that don't stand out from the crowd and are avai in greater numbers,"Alexander concludes. •
