Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

F.EARS that new Continental camping might eventually develop into an express service between Lancashire and Dover were given as the basis of several objections to an application by Sandown Tours (Burnley) Ltd. at Manchester on Tuesday. The applicant wished to operate cheap camping tours in Europe, especially for young people. The decision was reserved.

Mr. J. Dawes, giving evidence, on behalf of Ribble Motor Services Ltd., Scout Motor Services Ltd., and W. C. Standerwick Ltd.. all of whom objected, Said

that daily express services were operated from Lancashire to Dover, and these carried many passengers who were going on Continental tours. British Railways also objected and Mr. E. Frost, their representative, stated that they regarded the application as a possible forerunner to an express Lancashire-Dover service.

Mr. J. Booth. for Sandown, said no other operators ran cheap Continental holidays like those proposed by Sandown Tours. There was no evidence that any local stage carriage services would be adversely affected.
