Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to Minister A. REPORT on the lighting of vehicles, recommending revised and improved standards, is to be put before the Minister of Transport by the standing joint committee of the Royal Automobile Club, the Royal Scottish Automobile Club and the Automobile

Association. The report stresses the importance of adequate rear lighting in reducing accidents.

The committee has also stated that it is investigating reports that the material used for marking the white strips on the new "zebra" pedestrian crossings is slippery and dangerous. Representations have been made to the Minister, urging that a much more readily visible sign should be used to mark the limit of the 45-ft. no-waiting zone on the approaches to each uncontrolled crossing.

Representations are also to be made concerning the carriage of abnormal indivisible loads at peak periods and the movements of long non-operational Service convoys. If the powers of the police were extended to cover the stipulation of the times permitted for such movements. traffic delays could often be avoided, the committee thinks. •
