Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Scania is axing 17 of its staff in a merger that the Swedish truck giant hopes will enable it to respond more quickly and efficiently to its customers' needs.

The company's head office will bear the brunt of this restructuring process, losing employees across the board from secretaries to sales managers. A Scania spokeswoman explains: "Regional sales managers will no longer be needed as their areas are now part of Scania (Great Britain)."

The merger involves dealerships Reliable Vehicles, Union Trucks, Scanlink, Scantruck and Southway Scania. Under the new structure four operating regions will be set up: Scotland, the North-East, the South-East and the South-West. The streamlined head office will remain in Milton Keynes.

By forming a single business entity we are now able to concentrate our focus on our customers," says Scania MD Dan Hoij. It will enable us to respond more quickly and efficiently to customer needs while enhancing our own business performance."

Hoij stresses that this merger will have no effect on independent Scania dealers.
