MR. W. N. COLLINS, sales and service director of F. Perkins, Ltd., and MR. R. C. ALLEN general sales manager, have sailed for the U.S.A. and Canada to consolidate sales-promotion arrangements for Perkins engines in North America. Mr. Collins is a director of the recently formed Perkins Canadian subsidiary.

Ma. F. P. BARR1BAL, M.B.E., has been appointed general sales manager of the Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., in charge of marketing automotive and agricultural fuels and lubricants. MR. T. R. C. TOMPKINS has, become manager of the company's new automotive fuels department. The enlarged automotive sales department has absorbed the automotive lubricants department, the manager of which, MR. G. BRYCE COUSENS, has been appointed a director of the Vacuum Oil Co. (Ireland), Ltd. He will take over the management of this concern upon the forthcoming retirement of MR. C. G. REEVPS. MR, J. F. SLAUGHTER is 1.0 relinquish his directorship of David Rosenfield Ltd., Manchester, at the end of May. He has been engaged in the motor trade in Manchester for 40 years.,

PETITION ADJOURNED AGAIN

riA PETITION by the Commissioners of Inland Revenue for the windingup of Reliance Carriers, Ltd., was adjourned until June 23 in the Chancery Division on Monday.

Mr. M. Berkley, for the Commissioners, said that the company was a judgment creditor for £788. Last week, the petition was adjourned to enable the company to file evidence in opposition. Counsel added that he was instructed that the company expected payment from the British Transport Commission some time next month, and he did not oppose the company's request for a further adjournment. Agreeing to the adjournment, Mr. Justice Roxburgh warned the company not to forget pat the money was due, and that it would be expected to have the cash ready when the time came.

NO MONEY TO BUY A LTHOUGH its policy was to rI nationalize transport, the Government could not do so until it had sufficient money to pay the necessary compensation. Sardar B. S. Mann, Transport Minister of the State of Pepsu, India, made this statement in the Pepsu Assembly. He added that according to the constitution, the Government could not take over transport without paying compensation to owners.

THREE Leyland 8-ft. wide doubledeckers have been ordered by Stratford-on-Avon Blue Motors, Ltd. Mr. W. Agg, general manager, believes that the concern is unique among British stage-carriage operators in that the fleet of 30 Leylands consists entirely of post-war models. The vehicles, Titans and Tigers, return an average of 12.25 m.p.g.
