Matthew Fuller, of Tarleton, Preston, Lancashire, had to pay £200 in fines and costs at Leyland Magistrates' Court after admitting falsifying the chart.
Prosecuting for the Vehicle Inspectorate, John Heaton said Fuller, who was employed by A&S Transport (North West), had driven for 12hr 1Bmin on the day in question. He had tried to hide the fact by creating a chart in another man's name.
Fuller said he had not realised the seriousness of the offence. He had never done it before, although he had heard about the fiddle from other drivers.
He had not been employed full time by the company, hut he had been hoping that he would be.
Although he had decided since that he no longer wanted to be in road haulage, he was still driving for MB because of the lack of other work.
"Driving a wagon is a very hard job, there's a lot of pressure on you," Fuller told the court,
