Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALTHOUGH the intention of the Nottingham municipal authorities wa-s loug since announced as to the establishment of a motorbus service to meet the wants of districts in the city not directly coveijed by tramway 'traction, progress in"the matter has net been of a rapid rate. Tenders are now being invited for constructional steelwork to be used in the building of the garage f orthe accommodation of tha new buses this being located In Timmy Street, at the

c26 Trent Bridge end of the city, where the main tramway depot is situated.

It is therefore now anticipated that the much desired means of improved conveyance may be available before the end of the preseut year. The, Parliamentary rebuff recently experienced by the Nottinabaut Corporation in. relation to the powers which it had been ,sought to acquire for extending the Municipal tramway system to Hucknall Torkard, the old colliery capital •of the Leon Valley, has

not.. therefore, been without some compensating advantages, in that it has apparently contributed to a greater concentration of interest upon the needs of the city itself.

While there seems to be little immediate prospect of relief from the present inordinately high tramway fates in Nottingham, the charge for the shortest of journeys being still maintained at 141.1.., motorbuses at rates even higher, will be welcomed.
