It is anticipated that the removal will be completed in a few weeks time. The concern ask their customers' indulgence in the meantime for any shortcomings in the way of prompt delivery, as, as would be expected, business orders are being executed under difficulties. Until further flotice, all corretponde, nee should be addressed as heretofore, to 43-45, Great Eastern Street, E.C.

Coventry Chains.

We have recently received a copy of the latest catalogue issued by the Coventry Chain Co., Ltd., 4oti End, Coventry, which thoroughly describes the various designs of chains manufactured by this ooncern for vehicle and general power transmission. As is well. known, this company was one of the earliest manufacturers of chains for use on .motor vehicles. The result of this early experience, together with the fact that the concern has consistently studied the question of perfecting production, has undoubtedly enabled the company to be in a position to market a chain of good design and guaranteed wearing quality. It will be readily appreciated that the large number of operations which are required in the manufacture of a chain can only be satisfactorily carried out in a works which is thoroughly systematized and up-todate. The Coventry Chain Co. claims that its works are one of the largest and best equipped, which is devoted to the production of chains of all descriptions. The illustration, which we reproduce herewith, shows a portion of a chain which is specially designed for use on commercial vehicles. We are sure that the' utility of this particular type will appeal to all users of heavy machines. It will be seen that every pair , of rivets throughout the entire length of the chain is held in position by a substantial cotter pin. This • construction certainly possesses advantages which will at once make themselves apparent. Should the entrance of any hard, foreign matter cause one of the rollers to fracture, a repair can be quickly effected by withdrawing the cotter pin, detaching the link, and substituting a new spare roller and link as required, without the use of special tools. It is claimed that vibration and shocks cannot weaken the double coupling, as is often the case where smaller cotter pins are employed, and at the same time the chain is easily detachable many part..

Goodyear 12 in. Pneumatic Tires.

The illustration, which we reproduce herewith, affords a good example of the comparative sizes of various pneumatic tires which the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. (Gt. Britain), Ltd.,Central House, Kingsway, London, W.C., is marketing. The smallest tire of the three, which are shown, is the size of an ordinary pneumatic as is at present in use in the lighter forms of commercial service. The larger examples, which are particularly adapted for use on heavy commercial vehicles, are manufactured in sizes ranging from 36 ins. by 6 ins. to 48 ins. by 12 ins.

`It is claimed that these unusual-sized tires afford digtinct advantages on heavy vehicles where additional cushioning is required, for instance, in transporting glassware, furniture, and other fragile goods tvhichare liable to be considerably damaged in some way or other owing to excessive vibration, which is more often than not brought about by the fact that the vehicle is shod with solid tires: It is for carrying such loads, as those we mention that these big pneumatic tires have been introduced. We -unclestand that they have been submitted to most rigorous tests, the results of which have fully substantiated the claims made by the maker for them. The mileage which has been secured from ,everal of these tire, which have been in ordinary heavy-vehicle service for some time, has been most satisfactory. Of course, these pneumatics will permit a higher rate of speed.

The maker states that the heawy blocks, which are embodied in the 'treads of the tires, are very durable and prevent to a great extent the possibility of skidding, which is a point that should recommend their use.
