Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Chris Tindall THE JOINT administrators of Coast to Coast (UK), trading as ED Truckin, say they will take legal action against the irm’s directors if requests for iles continue to be ignored.

The Kettering, Northamptonshire haulage company appointed administrators on 20 October 2010 after struggling inancially for almost eight years.

However, the P&A Partnership says its function was hampered almost immediately when “vital IT equipment” was removed from the irm’s premises the night it was appointed.

The equipment was later found but, in its latest report to creditors, administrators Christopher White and John Russell say their role has still been beset by problems, particularly in pursuing outstanding amounts.

“Despite requesting such information on numerous occasions, to date this has not been received,” they say. “[We] have therefore instructed their solicitors to write to the directors in an attempt to obtain the required documentation. Should these parties fail to co-operate, the joint administrators will consider further legal action.” A former customer of the company tells CM it threatened to withhold one of the company’s trailers that it had repaired when it struggled to receive payment.

He says: “We were told it would be dealt with through the insurers and we kept asking which ones, but we got no answer. So we said we wouldn’t release the trailer and then we got paid before being told they had gone bust.” Meanwhile, the administrators have conirmed that one of ED Truckin’s former directors, Mark Gray, bought its plant, vehicles and goodwill for £32,000.

Gray’s company, MJ Gray, trades as ED Trucking Logistics from the same premises as ED Truckin.

The East Midlands trafic area ofice conirms that it has been given interim authority to trade while its O-licence application is processed.

Gray had not responded to CM’s queries by the time we went to press.
